Developing tasks aimed at measuring collaborative problem solving within the computational thinking context: From Construct Definitions to Task Designs

The primary goal of this project is to develop novel tasks that measure collaborative problem solving (ColPS) within the context of computational thinking (CoT). Specifically, we will:
1. Review the extant literature on the design, quality, and validity of ColPS measures in the context of CoT;
2. Develop 4-6 example tasks (in both Norwegian and English) to measure ColPS within the CoT context; and
3. Pilot these new tasks via cognitive labs with 8-10 high-school students who will work in groups.
The outcomes of this project will serve as exemplars for developing novel assessments to measure ColPS within the CoT context based on an assessment framework that integrates substantive theories about constructs, measurement methodologies, and educational practice. As a result of this collaboration, we will:
4. Provide guidance to educational researchers and graduate students in using the BEAR Assessment System;
5. Share our findings from the literature review in ColPS within the CoT contexts, including an overview of the existing ColPS assessments and task designs; and
6. Provide a hands-on example for developing tasks combining two competence areas-namely ColPS and CoT.
