This NTNU Ocean Week 2023 Symposium and Workshop proposal implements strategic change at NTNU through creation of the multidisciplinary networking initiative NTNU-Arctic to promote Arctic science policy and research programming. We aim to advance NTNUs organizational goals of increasing university-wide participation in Arctic science in collaboration with international partners at UC Berkeley along and national partners including Arctic Frontiers ahead of Norway's upcoming Arctic Council Chairmanship 2023 - 2025. NTNU-Arctic is a multidisciplinary program of co-organizers from Geography, Marine Biology, Anthropology, and Engineering. The program is sponsored by NTNU Oceans, one of four NTNU Strategic Initiatives with outreach to academy, industry, government. By situating NTNU-Arctic within NTNU Oceans, we connect university objectives in support of United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development to an emerging "Arctic blue economy". Thus, our NTNU Ocean Week 2023 Symposium/Workshop addresses the valuation of knowledge in the context of NTNU research areas of fisheries, hydrocarbon development, tourism, maritime transport, and emerging research in aquaculture, offshore renewable energy, and marine minerals and biotechnologies. These interests originate in The New Arctic & Digital Ocean project inaugurated in 2018 with support from Peder Sather Center that aims to facilitate multidisciplinary international cooperation and teamwork with postdoctors, Master's students, and faculty colleagues.
