Developing Pixel Read-Out Electronics For Experiments At CERN LHC

The upgraded High Luminosity LHC at CERN will deliver collisions at unprecedented rates. The tracking detectors of the experiments (of which ATLAS is one) must be replaced with new systems that can handle these rates while withstanding the extremely high levels of radiation that they will be exposed to. Completely new readout electronics needs to be developed and built. While LBL is one of the leading laboratories in the ongoing effort, experience in the field is also present at the University of Bergen. With this project we would like to facilitate the integration of University of Bergen capabilities and manpower into the project, by sending a PhD student  for a stay at Berkeley for several months.
