This project examines the impact of a scalable information intervention on youth sports engagement in Norway. We target the persistent challenge of low physical activity among children, particularly those with foreign backgrounds. Despite various large-scale initiatives to increase participation, physical activity levels remain concerningly low. Our intervention introduces a multilingual application that connects families with local sports clubs, providing comprehensive information in Norwegian, English, Ukrainian, and Arabic. Using a field experiment design, we will implement the application in two treatment areas within the state of Rogaland, while maintaining other areas as controls. The effectiveness will be measured through pre- and post-intervention surveys and by tracking user engagement within the application. This cost-effective, scalable approach addresses a critical public health concern with potential applications throughout Scandinavia. The 24-month project could be further supported by funding from the University of Stavanger, the Research Council of Norway, and the municipality of Stavanger. The results would provide valuable insights to the growing literature on information interventions and youth sports participation.
