Inaugural Conference and Celebration

Peder Sather Center for Advanced Study

On behalf the University of California, Berkeley; a consortium of eight Norwegian Universities; and the Norwegian Research Council, held a two-day conference and celebration on October 25 and 26, 2012 on the UC Berkeley campus. This event marked the launch of the Peder Sather Center for Advanced Study—a significant research initiative that was formally established in May, 2012. The Peder Sather Symposium  took place on the Berkeley campus. Two Berkeley Nobel Laureates, UC Berkeley Professors Saul Perlmutter (2011) and George Smoot (2006), both Nobel Prize winners in physics spoke at a panel discussion moderated by Harry Kreisler about international collaboration in the sciences.
